Happy Wednesday, y’all! I hope you are having a great week. The Christmas shopping season is in full swing, and I thought I’d share some gift ideas for runners with you. The links below are NOT affiliate links. These are just items, that I either own and love, or are currently on my wish list. Also, most of the items are made right here in the good ole’ USA, so you would be supporting American businesses. Love that!
Stocking Stuffers:
Honey Stingers Energy Gels and Sports Beans by Jelly Belly
I’m not really fond of using energy gels and chews because of some of the ingredients in them, but when you’re running 7 miles or more, you really need something, and it needs to be convenient. The two products above are what I have found that works best for me. You could pick one kind or give an assortment.
HairBLING Hairbee Hair Band Bracelet $9
“Add some BLING to your ponytail with our LaceBLING Hairbee Hair Band Bracelet. Our Hairbee hair bands are hair ties that are specifically designed for runners. Our runner’s hair ties will hold your ponytail securely, won’t pull and tear your hair, and look great both on your ponytail or wrist. We guarantee you’ll love them”! –source
There are several different options to choose from on the website besides these four.
Gifts:
The Wrist ID Slim by Road ID $15
This little bracelet can provide important contact information should an emergency arise while you are out running.
Spibelt $20 MADE IN USA!!!
Zensah Compression Leg Sleeves $40 MADE IN USA!!!!
SportHooks by HeavyMedalz $varies MADE IN USA!!!
Not something that I currently own, but if the runner in your life has a few medals lying around, these would be a great gift that would allow them to be displayed proudly. This website has several different options besides just these, so you’re sure to find something you like.
Tiger Tail Rolling Muscle Massager $30 to $35 depending on size MADE IN USA!!!
This isn’t something that I currently have, but it’s on my wish list. I’ve seen and heard a lot of other bloggers talking about this tool, and they love it. Totally could have used this myself over the last few days because my legs have been so tight.
Pro Compression Marathon Socks $50 MADE IN USA!!!
*Update: just read that there is a special on these over on Active GearUp for 50% off of these compression socks! Ends Dec. 1st
Women’s Dryline Zip Shirt $62 MADE IN USA!!!
Again, this is an item that is on my wish list. I really hate running in cold weather, but the right running apparel can make a huge difference. I saw some cheaper prices on other websites for this shirt when I did a quick google search, so do a little checking around before buying. The reviews I saw on the Runner’s World forum for this clothing line and experience with purchasing direct from the company were really good.

I’ve been thinking about getting compression sleeves for awhile, actually. It’s great they help with your shin splints! Have you heard about them helping with DOMS and general after-run muscle soreness? That’s what I’d be hoping to get them for. I’ve heard of people using them for a variety of reasons.

Hi Molly! I don’t really have DOMS in my lower legs, so I can’t personally say that it would help with that. However, I have heard other people say that the sleeves have decreased their DOMS. I am typically sore in my upper legs/hips and have wondered if some compression shorts would help with that as well. The sleeves really are one of the best investments I’ve made in running gear. The difference they’ve made with the shin pain and occasional calf pain has been amazing.

I’ve heard AMAZING things about compression shorts. Also, foam rollers. I think I need to get my hands on both very soon.

What about the TrailMix iPhone app? It automatically detects your pace and adjusts the music that you are playing to seamlessly match that pace. It’s $4.99 in the app store here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/trailmix-music-player/id479650960?ls=1&mt=8
